Oh hey so serious question post about ableism:

Sometimes when someone posts something that I strongly disagree with (like an opinion that is both harmful and obviously not thought out at all) I want to point out that the opinion is a terrible opinion to have.

I ALSO want to point out that the person having that opinion is terrible for having it, and I want to base the reason for the terribleness on a lack of thought put into it.

BUT I *only* want to offend *that person* and *no other people*.

What word do I use?

I have learned that “dumb”, “stupid”, “moronic”, “foolish” (?) et al are ableist (and I understand why), and I’ve heard inoffensive alternatives like “misinformed” are acceptable.

Well, they’re not acceptable to me! My problem with the inoffensive alternatives are that, while they remove offense from general groups, they also remove it from the specific person.

I’m serious here, too! I’m not being like “ableism police are misguided because they’re on a Huxleian quest to neuter debate! I will passive-aggressively pose my criticism of the movement as a question”, I’m being like “seriously what is the recommended course of action here?”

thanx u 4 ur patience
