I think there’s an important difference between a person acknowledging their own fame and a person acually taking advantage of it - and to me, the penny arcade thing is the latter
Eh there’s a difference. But an important difference? They’re not scamming anyone.
Again, the Ordinary Tour example - if we had thousands of fans at each city, rather than just hundreds, we would’ve priced the pie reward a lot higher than $100. If Vondell was at Banksy-level notoriety, we would have priced the commissioned art by him a lot higher than $100.
It’s taking advantage of fame, sure, but it’s only taking advantage of fame. It’s using the resources you’ve got available. It’s not taking advantage of people, for example. Just fame.
