Oh man why did all the people who were telling me that my brother my brother and me was so funny not tell me that I should actually listen to it
It’s so funny
Latest Comedy Bang Bang is frickin hilarious. Godhead Orson Wells advertising electricchairs.com to a terrible stand up comic, it’s excellent.
This is your monthly pin about my podcast. I don’t like this any more than you do but I don’t make the rules. Getting On with James Urbaniak, Ep. 4: “That Smell” by Coleman Hough can be heard here and at iTunes. Thank you for your patronage.
Working through my huge podcast backlog caused by a new Audible membership and I tell you what
Getting On with James Urbaniak is the best goddamn podcast
it is unlike any other podcast out there
it’s funny and harrowing and terrifying and beautiful
and each episode is better than the last
like most episodes of other podcasts I’ll finish with a “hah, that was fun” but Getting On consistently ends with a slow breathe-out “wow”
it’s not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea I’m sure but there are enough of you reading this that it’s gonna hit at least a few of you and you’ll be so dang ol thankful for this so here I am recommending Getting On in the strongest possible terms
oh my god Bleep has a podcast
it’s been going for ages
there are a million episodes
guys you know I’m not gonna listen to anything else for like the rest of the year aaaahhhh
yyaaaaayyyy
guys i cant recommend 99% Invisible highly enough and i know i’ve mentioned it a couple times already but it’s really good
it’s a little podcast all about design and architecture and engineering and everything wonderful and it’s loose enough and interesting and enjoyable enough for anyone to listen to it
it’s on itunes and i think stitcher and beyondpod too
the episodes are only 5 minutes long so it does feel a little rushed but that’s a time limit forced by the radio show it appears on and every so often there’d be a particularly long episode just for podcast listeners when the host, Roman Mars, has something he wants to showcase
for the past few days i’ve just playlisted every episode and i’ve been making my way through them all and it’s a really wonderful experience
all round it’s just phenomenally well made and i really need to find other things that this guy has worked on because he’s absolutely fantastic.
Sorry about the pin but my understanding of Tumblr is that it’s cool if you’re promoting a podcast. And the premiere episode of GETTING ON WITH JAMES URBANIAK is now on iTunes. (You can also listen here.) Here’s what people are saying:
“So this new @jamesurbaniak podcast is super strange, but it’s hitting the spot on a quiet pre-holiday Thurs afternoon.” -@maggielehrman
“That was intense. I only wish it was longer. Thank you.” -@genitalwarfare
“…it is already hilarious and wonderful” -@krysbeau
“Kind of a cross between @henryrollins and David Sedaris. Broody yet trivial, with a proper helping of obsessive. Another plez!” -@__josh
“This is great. #fantastic” -@ColonelGathers
This is a monthly show in which I play a character named James Urbaniak. Different writer each episode. I urge you to check it out and, if so inclined, to write an iTunes review. My understanding is that sort of thing helps. I thank you. (Click on pin to remove.)
RECOMMENDED LISTENING.
It’s unlike any other podcast I’ve listened to and I’m mad excited for future episodes.
Last night I dreamt I was telling Hank Green about James Urbaniak’s new podcast and I said he’s the voice of Master Shake in Venture Brothers, and Hank says “um no Master Shake is voiced by Dana Snyder,” and I’m like “oh right yeah of course I meant Dr Venture.”
But I’m pretty proud that my subconscious knows who voices Master Shake (and also The Alchemist who is actually in Venture Bros) because I swear if you asked me his name while I was awake yesterday I would’ve straight-up had no idea.
I even remember thinking that in the dream.
Pretty cool dream.
Anyway the point of this is that James Urbaniak’s new podcast is cool enough that I’m even recommending it to dream people. I’m gonna go reblog his announcement thing.
